Objectives

Employment/Experience Summary
Private Voice and Piano Instructor (2002 - Present)
Kathy is an adjunct professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and also has a private studio.  She instructs students on how to improve their vocal ability by using correct breathing, projection, stage presence, etc. Kathy uses several methods in her teaching including the "Bel Canto" method of singing. She also instructs students in piano.
Teaching Assistant, University of Southern California (2000 - 2001)
Kathy was solely responsible for instructing students in the basics of voice production in a class setting as well as in private instruction. Tasks included: syllabus & class schedule production, preparing & giving lectures, assigning students repertoire of music in several languages, critiquing students on singing performance, giving instruction for improvement of technique, compiling tests, and giving final grades.

  • Experienced and Trained in singing Italian, German, French, and English Diction.
  • Experienced in Teaching Vocal Techniques & Music to both males and females.
  • Performed in several Opera Productions (Opera roles have included:  The title role in Patience, Fiordorligi in Cosi fan tutte, Mercedes in Carmen, Mother Marie in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Mrs. Grose in Turn of the Screw, and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi.) She also has performed in numerous Musical Productions, and Opera Scenes.

  • 2004 Regional Finalist, Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Mid-South Region. Winner of "Elsa and David Russell Williams Award" for Diction.

  • I have several personal interests including religion, arts and crafts, and spending time with my husband.
